BMI is a rough measure of body weight relative to height and does not account for muscle mass, body composition, or other health factors. The result should not be viewed as a medical diagnosis. Always consult a licensed physician for an individual assessment.

    Frequently Asked Questions About BMI

BMI (Body Mass Index) is a measure calculated by dividing your weight in kilograms by the square of your height in metres. It is used as a screening tool to assess whether a person's weight may pose health risks.

A BMI between 18.5 and 24.9 is considered normal weight. Below 18.5 is underweight, 25–29.9 is overweight, and 30 or above is classified as obesity.

BMI is a simple screening tool but does not account for muscle mass, fat distribution, age, or sex. A person with significant muscle mass may have a high BMI without being overweight. BMI should therefore always be interpreted alongside other health markers.

Medical weight treatment with GLP-1 medications may be appropriate at a BMI of 30 or above. At BMI 27–30, treatment may be considered if weight-related comorbidities are present.

BMI is calculated with the formula: weight (kg) / height (m)². For example, if you weigh 85 kg and are 175 cm tall: 85 / (1.75 × 1.75) = 27.8.
